What inspired you to start your venture ?

When I started Yung Minds 15 years back, it was a startup. Things were different those days, there was no startup funding or venture capitalist, and nothing else was there. We funded ourselves. I took money from my family and started the venture. These days there are so many types of funding that are available for startups. There are venture capitalists, and bankers who are ready to invest, and to answer this question, there should be a well-designed and proven plan to take the first step. There can be a mentor to guide you and point out where you are right and going wrong. The mentor should be from the same industry so that they can guide you properly to align better. I personally feel if you are skilled, you can use your expertise because economies these days are fluctuating and unpredictable. Having a backup plan is helpful when it comes to taking decisions and moving forward, and investing time and money in your startup. Either you should have a strong backing or a strong backup plan because at least one year you should know how to survive and sustain. We get to see so many companies go through the process of opening, surviving, and shutting down. It is hard to know what is going to click in the market and what is not going to click. A strong backup plan makes you emotionally and mentally free from the problems of having a financial crisis. Once that fear is not there, then it is easy to crack anything.

Your secret to success ?

The secret to my success is very simple. Be courageous, be confident, and read. I was never an avid reader, but recently I have started reading, and I can see those benefits in my professional as well as my personal journey. I should also say, if you are surrounded by five influential or positive persons, you will keep moving forward no matter what situation arises, you will also learn how to perform, how to find a solution to challenges, and how to get things done. What I follow is that I keep assessing myself so that I am aware of my grey areas and partner with people who are strong in my grey areas. Or I work on my grey areas. These are some of the things I follow diligently, and I can see good results.

Your advice to young entrepreneurs ?

My only advise to young entrepreneurs will be just practice - Arigato (appreciate things), Ukitamo (Accept what you can't change) & Fika (Enjoy the journey, success will follow)

How we can sustain our start up ?

Why women should be financially independent ?

If women are educated, have experience, and a will to stand on their own two feet, they should be financially independent irrespective of whether they are an entrepreneur, a freelancer, or working part-time. Children also have a different way of looking at their mothers when they see them working, having a routine, managing the homes, and post Covid how they are attending virtual meetings, and working from home. It is a fascination for the entire family to see their mothers getting recognized and rewarded. Children also get motivated watching their mothers being that circle of influencers. If a woman enjoys working, it is important that she spends some time pursuing a career. In case she cannot take up a full-time job, there are a lot of opportunities nowadays to work to suit their time, like freelancing or taking up a part-time job. It is a good way to be independent of your parents, spouses, and siblings. Being financially independent gives you the freedom to spend money and it is a feel-good factor. You can have a lavish lifestyle to suit your tastes and needs. It is very important to me because I see women enjoy that space of knowing how it is to be financially independent.
