On International Women’s Day, She Business Time celebrates the journeys of women who remind the world that every woman matters, every dream matters, and every act of courage has the power to transform lives. Among these remarkable voices stands Lakhminder Kaur from Ludhiana, a woman whose journey beautifully blends entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and sustainability.
Her story is not only about business success. It is about reinvention, purpose, and the courage to create impact at every stage of life.
The Beginning of an Entrepreneurial Journey
Lakhminder Kaur stepped into the business world when she joined Lucky Exports in 2013, entering the dynamic and competitive arena of international trade and industrial operations. For many, this would have been a challenging shift, but for her, it became a powerful learning experience.
She travelled across countries, represented her company at international exhibitions, and built relationships with global buyers. These experiences exposed her to diverse cultures, business practices, and market opportunities.
Each journey strengthened her confidence and sharpened her vision as an entrepreneur.
But even as her professional life expanded, she felt a deeper calling—a desire to contribute to society beyond business boundaries.
When Business Meets Purpose
In 2015, Lakhminder began actively engaging in social work. What started as small contributions soon evolved into a structured effort to bring people, organizations, and institutions together to create meaningful impact.
This vision led to the creation of the Philanthropy Club, an initiative that now collaborates with 35–40 NGOs across Punjab, addressing issues ranging from healthcare and child welfare to skill development and rehabilitation.
Her work focuses on empowering individuals who often remain unseen by society—children in care institutions, patients in need of specialized medical support, and communities lacking opportunities for skill development.
Through her initiatives, vocational training centers were established in child care institutions and government organizations, helping individuals build skills that restore dignity and independence.
Redefining Leadership Through Service
For Lakhminder Kaur, leadership has never been about titles—it has always been about responsibility and service.
Her dedication led her to take on influential roles such as Women Convenor at CICU and UCPMA, where she works to strengthen connections between industries and communities.
She also serves as a CSR Consultant on the District CSR Committee under the Ludhiana Administration, helping align corporate social responsibility initiatives with government priorities so that development efforts reach those who need them most.
Her work has also contributed to healthcare initiatives, physiotherapy support programs, and development projects for Thalassemia wards, ensuring that compassion becomes part of community infrastructure.
A New Beginning at 52
What makes Lakhminder’s journey even more inspiring is her belief that learning never stops.
At the age of 52, instead of slowing down, she chose to begin a new chapter by formally studying Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability.
This step transformed her role from a social contributor to a Social Auditor and ESG consultant, enabling her to guide industries and organizations toward responsible and sustainable practices.
Her dedication made history when she became Punjab’s first Social Auditor, a milestone that reflects both courage and commitment to systemic change.
Leading the Sustainability Movement
Sustainability is no longer just an environmental conversation—it is a social and economic necessity. Lakhminder recognized this early and began promoting ESG awareness and sustainable practices among industries and MSMEs.
One of her pioneering initiatives was installing the first E-waste bins in Punjab, encouraging responsible disposal and environmental awareness.
Her contributions to sustainability also reached global academic circles when her research paper was published in the International Net Zero Compendium, contributing to international discussions on climate action and sustainable development.
Recognition That Reflects Real Impact
Over the years, Lakhminder’s dedication has been recognized through Sustainability Awards and honors from the District Administration for social impact and community service.
Yet, what truly defines her journey is not recognition but the lives she has touched and the systems she has helped transform.
She is known among peers and collaborators for her innovative and solution-driven approach, constantly exploring new models that combine entrepreneurship with social change.
Lessons from a Life of Purpose
For Lakhminder Kaur, the journey of entrepreneurship and social service has been filled with important lessons.
She believes that credibility and relationships are the most valuable assets any leader can build.
There were moments when she had to prove herself repeatedly, when balancing business responsibilities with social commitments felt overwhelming, and when expectations from different directions tested her resilience.
Yet she remained guided by three simple values:
Integrity. Compassion. Persistence.
Above all, she believes that true success is measured by the positive change we create in the lives of others.
A Message for Women Everywhere
For women who hesitate to pursue their dreams, Lakhminder offers powerful advice:
Start before you feel fully ready. Build financial independence, keep learning, and never let age or societal expectations define your possibilities.
Her own life proves that new beginnings can happen at any age, and that courage grows stronger when guided by purpose.
Every Woman Matters
The journey of Lakhminder Kaur reminds us that impact is not limited to one role or one stage of life.
A woman can be an entrepreneur, a social leader, a sustainability advocate, and a changemaker—all at once.
Through her work in business, community development, and sustainability, she continues to inspire a new generation of women to believe in their ability to create change.
Because when one woman rises with purpose, entire communities move forward.
And that is exactly why She Business Time, the first women’s business magazine from East India with a global readership, proudly celebrates her journey as part of the International Women’s Day campaign – “Every Woman Matters.”
Her story reminds us that every woman carries the power to build, uplift, and transform the world around her.
And sometimes, the most powerful journeys begin with a simple decision:
To start.
