Every great founder begins with a purpose larger than themselves. For Dr. Lopa Das (PT), that purpose has always been simple yet profound—to restore movement, rebuild confidence, and improve lives through compassionate, evidence-based physiotherapy.
Her journey from a dedicated physiotherapist in Assam to an academic leader, healthcare entrepreneur, researcher, and innovator reflects the power of combining scientific excellence with human empathy. Over the past 17 years in clinical practice and 15 years in academic leadership, she has built more than a successful career; she has created an ecosystem where education, innovation, and patient care reinforce one another.
As the Principal of the College of Physiotherapy and Medical Sciences under the PEWS Group of Institutions in Guwahati, Dr. Das has become a mentor to aspiring healthcare professionals, instilling not only technical competence but also integrity, compassion, and a lifelong commitment to learning. She believes that the future of healthcare depends on professionals who understand that every patient is more than a diagnosis—they are individuals with aspirations, families, and stories.
Her entrepreneurial vision took shape through LOCOMOTION – A Unit of GEMC, where she serves as Proprietor and Senior Physiotherapist. The clinic embodies her belief that rehabilitation should be personalized, evidence-based, and accessible. By remaining actively involved in patient care while leading an academic institution, she ensures that her decisions as an educator are continually informed by real-world clinical experience.
Throughout her career, Dr. Das has worked with patients across all age groups and professions, helping individuals regain mobility after injury, supporting athletes in returning to peak performance, and improving the quality of life of people living with musculoskeletal disorders. Her specialization in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Biomechanics, coupled with expertise in motor control training and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), has positioned her among the leading rehabilitation professionals in the region.
Her experience as the Sports Physiotherapist for the Assam State Women's Cricket Team (2010–2011) further strengthened her understanding of sports rehabilitation and performance optimization, reinforcing the importance of preventive care alongside recovery.
Driven by a passion for advancing rehabilitation science, Dr. Das is currently pursuing doctoral research at Garden City University, Bengaluru, focusing on cervical spine posture, pediatric biomechanics, and geriatric fall prevention. Her research is closely aligned with practical healthcare challenges, ensuring that scientific discoveries translate into improved patient outcomes.
Innovation is another defining aspect of her entrepreneurial journey. Her inventions—including the Voice Activated Breathing Coach (2024) and the Multi-Modal Physiotherapy Chair (2026)—reflect her commitment to designing healthcare solutions that make rehabilitation more effective, accessible, and patient-friendly.
Despite balancing multiple leadership roles, Dr. Das remains guided by a singular belief: healthcare is fundamentally about restoring dignity. Every innovation, every lecture, every research project, and every patient interaction serves that larger purpose.
