The young minds at RGU celebrated World Environment Day by creating ideas about plastic pollution


Increasing demand for plastic is causing an alarming situation for our planet, which is very important for all of us to take care of, and here youth play a very crucial role .Janitri, in association with RGU and IIC, organised a symposium poster presentation on the solution to beat plastic pollution.


Today, the Department of Physics, Royal School of Environmental and Earth Sciences, in association with IIC-RGU and Student Welfare, celebrated World Environment Day through various lectures and competitions among the students.

The programme starts with the inaugural speech by Prof. Kushal Kumar Baruah, Dean of RSEES. The introductory session was also enlightened by the speech of Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Devi, Dean of RSAPS.



The programme was blessed by the presence of two eminent resource persons from the fields of environment and climate change. Mr. Rituraj Dewan, co-founder at 7WEAVES, Guwahati, focused on the menace of plastic waste and its probable solution. The other resource person, Mr. Deepjyoti Borah, Advisor and Consultant, Climate Change and Sustainability, covered different aspects of carbon trading, carbon footprints, etc.

After the first round of events, the poster compositions were organised among the students based on the theme Save Earth Through Social Awareness and Technology Innovation. Subsequently, the winners were awarded certificates and gifts.
